Jaylen Brown has grown frustrated with the Boston Celtics' approach after leading them to a 56-win campaign largely without Jayson Tatum, a source told Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe.
Brown was reportedly the centerpiece in the Celtics' proposed trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, whom the Milwaukee Bucks ultimately dealt to the Miami Heat instead.
Boston has apparently continued to shop the 2024 Finals MVP following its failed pursuit of Antetokounmpo.
Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens recently said the franchise still "valued" Brown, but he didn't completely dismiss the trade rumors.
It's still possible that Brown returns next season, but some uncomfortable conversations may need to be held first, adds Himmelsbach.
Brown is coming off his best campaign, during which he averaged career highs in points (28.7), rebounds (6.9), and assists (5.1) across 71 appearances. He also finished sixth in MVP voting and earned his second All-NBA second-team nod.
Brown has spent his entire career with the Celtics after being selected third overall in the 2016 draft.
