Boston Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy didn't hold back when describing the team's 2026 campaign during an interview Thursday.
"Just to acknowledge ... how embarrassing and unacceptable, maddening, frustrating, whatever words you want to use, the past two-and-a-half months have been," Kennedy said on "The Greg Hill Show."
"There's no way to sugarcoat it. It's been awful, especially when you consider the stated goal of building upon what happened last season."

The Red Sox sit last in the AL East entering Thursday's action with a 27-39 record and are one of the worst run-scoring teams in MLB.
Boston fired manager Alex Cora and several members of his coaching staff earlier this season. The Red Sox have shown improvement under new skipper Chad Tracy but still own a losing record (17-22) since he took over.
Kennedy didn't point fingers at one specific person or particular group of people for the team's lack of success, instead placing blame on everyone as a whole.
"It's on all of us. We have to get better," Kennedy explained.
The executive confirmed that the ownership group, including principal owner John Henry and chairman Tom Werner, is upset by the team's performance.
"Of course, we all are, everybody. John Henry, Tom Werner, myself, Craig Breslow, the whole group. It's been maddening ... We're all frustrated," Kennedy said.
"Our fans have got to be livid. We're just not where we expected to be. We have to own that. We're not pretending otherwise. ... We've seen the same inconsistencies, we've seen lack of performance, and that's on us."
