The Rock Cobbler in Bakersfield, Calif., is a cycling race unlike any other.

Billed as "a stupidly hard ride bordering on a race," the course is roughly 90 miles long and features 6,800-plus feet of elevation across roads, trails, private land, a river, a creek, and a brewery.

This year's event, held Saturday, required cyclists to ride through someone's backyard and living room.

"The race promoters didn't tell us about it in advance, so we kind of just dropped off of a dirt hill and made a hard left into this backyard where they were having a pool party," racer Brian Guiniling told Deadspin's Patrick Redford.
