San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a car accident last week, the team announced Saturday.
Shanahan will participate in team activities during training camp on a limited basis.
The 46-year-old suffered a concussion, three broken ribs, a broken hand, a broken nose, and needed over 40 stitches in his face, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Shanahan reportedly collided with an SUV near his home in northern California. He was taken to a local hospital before being released. The other driver wasn't injured, according to Palo Alto lieutenant Nicholas Martinez.
Drugs and alcohol weren't involved, Martinez added.
Shanahan has taken the 49ers to two Super Bowls while posting an 82-67 regular-season record during his nine seasons with the team.
Assistant head coach Chris Foerster and the team's coordinators will handle head coach responsibilities while Shanahan continues to recover.
