The Arizona Cardinals received trade calls about pass-rusher Josh Sweat, sources told NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Sweat reportedly has a close relationship with former Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, who was fired after the 2025 campaign with a 15-36 record over three seasons at the helm.
Sweat, 29, signed a four-year, $76.4-million contract with the Cardinals in March 2025. He'd spent the previous seven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles since entering the league as a fourth-round pick in 2018. He played a crucial role in the Eagles' victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
He posted 30 tackles and 17 quarterback hits in his first season with the Cardinals, and his 12 sacks were tied for eighth league-wide. It's the second time in Sweat's career he's posted double-digit sacks in a season, and he recorded 37.5 over the last four years combined.
Sweat has a $16.3-million cap hit in 2026, but it rises to $23.6 million in both 2027 and 2028, according to Over the Cap. The Cardinals would save $10.8 million in cap space in 2026 by trading the edge rusher after June 1.
Arizona is entering its first season under new head coach Mike LaFleur. He decided to retain Nick Rallis, who's been the Cardinals' defensive coordinator since 2023.
