Miami Heat president Pat Riley isn't considering trading center Bam Adebayo, nor is he interested in tanking.
"I am not saying that something would happen, but I want to build this around Bam. ... I am just going to give you a flat-out no, I wouldn't do that. Unless somebody gave me eight picks and (San Antonio Spurs star Victor) Wembanyama," Riley said, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk.
Instead of trading their three-time All-Star, Riley said the Heat plan to be aggressive this offseason. Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo could be available on the trade market.
The 81-year-old Riley said he would quit before tanking with the Heat.
"We are in a period right now, you don't make radical changes right now, not in my philosophy," Riley said. "I am not going to tank. We are not going to lose. We are not going into the lottery and do that insanity because I will quit - if I ever get ordered to go down that road. I am always thinking of ways to win."
The Heat are coming off a fourth consecutive appearance in the play-in tournament, but it's the first time they've missed the postseason since 2019. They were eliminated in this year's 9-10 game by the Charlotte Hornets after back-to-back first-round playoff exits in 2024 and 2025.
Miami advanced to the 2023 Finals but lost to the Denver Nuggets.
