Atlanta Braves right-hander Reynaldo López and Los Angeles Angels designated hitter Jorge Soler received seven-game suspensions for their roles in Tuesday's benches-clearing brawl, MLB announced Wednesday.

López and Soler were also fined an undisclosed amount. Both players appealed their punishments.

López already reached an agreement to have his ban reduced to five games, according to Grant McAuley of 92.9 The Game. The pitcher will begin serving the suspension immediately, which means he won't miss a start as a result of an off day.

Soler charged the mound after a high-and-tight pitch by López in the fifth inning, and the two players exchanged punches. Braves manager Walt Weiss helped end the melee by tackling Soler.

López threw punches at Soler while still holding the baseball.

The Braves and Angels wrap up their three-game series Wednesday.
